Lake Hemmoor is located in northern Germany. This lake has a fascinating history; it was once an open pit mine for chalk. After mining operations ended in 1976, the pit filled with groundwater, submerging some artifacts from the mining days and creating an intriguing underwater landscape with flooded trees.

As the lake grew in popularity among divers, additional items like airplanes, ships, and a truck were added to the seabed for exploration. Visibility in the lake is generally excellent, though the water temperature can be quite chilly at depth, ranging from 4 to 8 °C, even during summer.
